Recording is a Drag

Dedicated to the Destruction of Music Through Technology

This is what I’m talking about.

Éliane Radigue, Paris, 1971.

Twerk it. I once had the pleasure of using one of these. Rumor has it that it was owned by the guy who did the sound effects for the Alien. The oscillators of the 2500 have a lovely bell like/metallic quality. I think the one of the best examples of this is in Benge’s 20 Systems.

Killin it. Richard, why do you torture us? Why don’t you simply release another album? The last official Aphex release was 9 years ago. Don’t make me cry.

yerdarlingdaily:

Silver Apples live in Los Angeles, 1968.
Simeon Coxe III: “In this shot you can see I have the oscillators mounted horizontally in plywood along with echo units, wah pedal, and so on. Here I am playing the ‘lead’ oscillator with my right hand, keying in rhythm oscillators with my elbow on the telegraph keys, changing the volume on an amp with my left hand, and singing. This was typical.”
… via an interview with Simeon at SoundOnSound.

So sick. A lot cooler than the laptop karaoke we get sometimes nowadays.
